1. Stop dieting.
2. Treat your body with respect and love.
3. Toss your scale into the scrap metal bin on recycling day.
4. Reclaim the pleasure of eating and learn what foods--and how much--your body really needs and wants.
5. Go through your wardrobe and give away everything that doesn't fit to a charity; then treat yourself to
some classy new outfits that make you feel as great as you look!
6. Learn to appreciate the diversity of sizes and shapes human beings naturally come in and recognize the
beauty, strength and grace in ALL of them.
7. Make friends with the person you see in the mirror.
8. Get to know people of size who have learned to love themselves just the weigh they are: treat them
as valued resources, role models, mentors...and friends.
9. Experience the joy in moving your body freely; find physical activities you love doing--dancing, swimming,
gardening, bicycling, skiing, hiking, team sports or anything else--and have fun playing!
10. Insist on size-blind, size-informed health care; if your caregivers aren't adequate to this basic requirement,
find others who are.
11. Join a size-esteem support group through your local community, health or feminist center, church, or
size rights organization; if no group exists, you can start one yourself!
12. Challenge size-bigotry and fight size discrimination whenever and wherever you encounter it.
13. Pick something you've been putting off until you were the perfect size or shape, and go for it NOW--you
are the perfect size and shape for YOU!
